Grace Walsh Carroll
HAR extends condolences to family, friends and colleagues of member Grace Walsh Carroll, who died on August 26 in Houston. Grace devoted 44 years to her real estate career and was co-founder of Carroll & Carroll Properties.

Grace attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from the Visitation Monastery in Mobile, Alabama. She attended Gulf Park College and graduated from the University of Alabama where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was a Realtor in Mobile, Alabama for many years before moving to Houston to be with her children. In 1988, she and her daughter started Carroll & Carroll Properties, which remains in business today.

Grace is preceded in death by her parents Richard Bernard Walsh and Margaret Van Heuval Walsh, her siblings Margaret Walsh Hancock, Martin James Walsh and Michael Van Heuval Walsh and son Lester Erwin Carroll, IV. Grace is survived by daughters Grace Fontaine Carroll and Margaret Leigh Carroll, son Richard Maury Carroll and granddaughter Rachel Leighla Carroll. She was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Houston.

A Memorial Mass celebrating Grace’s life will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1453 Old Shell Road in Mobile, Alabama.

Crystal Ann (Seratte) McDowell
As you may have read or seen, HAR member Crystal McDowell’s body was found on September 9, 2017, after she went missing on Friday, August 25, 2017, just hours prior to Hurricane Harvey hitting our area. She was found in a wooded area near Needlepoint Road in Baytown. Later that day, her ex-husband was arrested for her murder, which allegedly occurred with their children in the home at the time. Reportedly, her ex-husband gave a tearful confession to the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office two days later. Below is her obituary as it ran in the newspaper. Our thoughts and prayers are with her children, family, friends and co-workers.

Crystal Ann (Seratte) McDowell, age 37, passed away Friday, August 25, 2017. To say Crystal was a loving mother, caring friend, and devoted confidant, would be an extreme understatement. She simply and unapologetically cared for everyone she knew, deserving or not, and was loyal to those she cared for, sometimes to a fault.

Born Friday, October 26, 1979, she was a native of Baytown, where she currently lived and was raising her two beautiful children, which were her entire world. Crystal was a top producing 3rd generation REALTOR®, working with her family’s business Virginia Malone and Associates, as well as a 15-year veteran of ExpressJet Airlines, where she held a number of positions, including flight attendant and training instructor. She loved helping people realize their dreams.

Crystal was preceded in death by her parents, Pamela Sue Seratte and Anthony Paul Walters; maternal grandparents, Jack and Vera Seratte; and paternal grandfather, Robert “Burl” Walters.

Survivors left to cherish her memory are her son, Madden Alexander McDowell; daughter, Maui Lorelei McDowell; paternal grandmother, Wanda Ann Walters; uncle, Jeffrey Walters; aunt, Sandra Bransford and husband Jesse; uncle, Robert Walters; uncle, Terry Seratte and wife Cindy; aunt, Debra French; and great-aunt, Virginia Malone; as well as a vast host of extended family and friends, whose lives are better and more beautiful because Crystal was in them.

Joyce Nordquist
HAR extends condolences to family friends and colleagues of member Joyce Nordquist, who died on September 16. Joyce’s real estate career spanned more than 40 years. She most recently was with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Gary Greene in Sugar Land. Funeral services were held on September 21 at Christ Church in Sugar Land with burial at Davis-Greenlawn Cemetery in Rosenberg.

Dawn Renee Pickett
HAR extends condolences to family, friends and colleagues of member Dawn Renee Pickett, who died on September 17 at the age of 51. Dawn, with JLA Realty in Humble, was 2016 president of the Women’s Council of REALTORS®’ (WCR) Montgomery County network. Funeral arrangements were being handled by Cashner Funeral Home of Conroe, but had not been finalized as of publication time.
