Wayne Stroman
President and Broker, Stroman Realty, Inc.
2012 HAR Chairman
The Houston Association of REALTORS® is honored and excited to welcome Wayne Stroman as 2012 Chairman. Wayne has declared “Discovering Opportunities” as the theme for his year in office. It’s part of his commitment to lead HAR into finding new and innovative ways to promote the real estate profession for Association members working throughout the Greater Houston area.
Wayne has served as President and Broker of Stroman Realty in Lake Conroe since 1981 and has been a licensed Texas real estate professional since 1979. In August of that year, the day after taking his last college final exam, he walked into a Realty World office and started working in real estate. He then joined HAR, the MLS and spent the better part of the next year selling real estate from Huntsville to Galveston. Wayne’s first home sale was to a family from Vietnam. His second was his own property listing to a gentleman seated next to him at HAR’s new member orientation.
Wayne attended Houston Community College from 1972-73 and Southwest Texas State in San Marcos from 1973-74. He graduated with a BBA in International Marketing from the University of Houston in 1979 and earned his real estate license through Jones Real Estate School that same year.
In the summer of 1980, Wayne sold new homes in West Houston. That fall, he sold residential resort land for James Bruce Belin, the developer of many large Houston-area subdivisions like Pecan Grove Plantation, Bentwater and April Sound. About a year later, Wayne began practicing residential sales in the Lake Conroe area where he mastered mass-mailed listing presentations for resort lots and homes.
In 1982, Wayne had also begun marketing and selling timeshare properties in Texas. To handle all the buyer, seller and property information, he designed Customer Relations Management (CRM) software to be used by his agents and personnel. His office was one of the few nationwide where every agent sat in front of a computer. In 1985, he branched out and began selling timeshares all over the world. By 1996, Wayne’s brokerage became the largest reseller of timeshares in the world and he began his first timeshare websites. In 1998, he developed the Highland Ranch Equestrian subdivision in Montgomery County where he also built several spec homes.
Beginning in 2000, Wayne became heavily involved in developing more sophisticated technology to make his company operate more efficiently and profitably. He designed the eLead inbound routing systems for Web form leads coming from his websites. The leads were routed to his agents based on languages spoken, production efficiency and agent skill set qualifications. In 2002, he redesigned and rewrote the in-house software for Internet compatibility in C# .NET with the MS SQL Server database language. A year later, he designed a transaction management (TM) system for the in-house CRM that runs the company.
Wayne is deeply committed to his profession. He served on HAR’s MLS Advisory Group for 17 years and has dedicated time and service as a member or chairman of several other HAR committees. In 1998, he became the first TREPAC Golden “R” in Houston and was first elected to the HAR Board of Directors in 1999. He has served on both the HAR and HRIS boards each year since then. In 2010, Wayne achieved President’s Circle status with the NARPAC, and in 2012, he will be inducted into the NARPAC Hall of Fame.
Congratulations and welcome, Wayne!
