Congratulations are in store for Houston Association of REALTORS® recommended candidates for Pearland City Council. Both Position 1 candidate Tony Carbone (55.11%) and Position 5 candidate Greg Hill (75.61%), won their respective races at the polls on May 11.
Due to the growth of our REALTOR® members within the Pearland area, HAR was involved in the Pearland City Council races for the first time. The candidates were chosen by a non-partisan local group of your fellow REALTORS® – commonly referred to as PAAL (Political Affairs Advisory Leadership) – who believe in protecting property rights and promoting a strong and healthy business environment. PAAL members volunteer their time to serve as your activists and advocates for the real estate industry, and they represent the REALTOR® Party by conducting candidate interviews for HAR support and endorsement, holding TREPAC fundraisers to raise money for HAR Recommended Candidates, and participating in NAR’s Calls for Action
NOTE: At time of printing, HAR’s recommended candidate for Missouri City City Council, Bobby Marshall, was headed to a runoff following a second place finish at the polls on Saturday, May 11. Since neither of the top two candidates received more than 50% of the vote, District A Councilman Marshall will face Yolanda Ford in a runoff set for Saturday, June 15, 2013. Please check back in our July issue of Houston REALTOR® to see the results of the race.
