HAR’s NextGen REALTOR® Group (NRG) recently spread some welcomed holiday cheer to disadvantaged children at Hartsfield Elementary School on Houston’s southeast side. On the morning of Tuesday, December 6, NRG volunteers converged on the HISD exemplary school with gifts for the students and a host of holiday activities to keep them engaged and entertained.
Students were given a chance to pose for photos with Santa Claus. Many left their handprints on a banner, decorated cookies, watched a magic show and even petted a furry bunny. More than 55 children received individually wrapped presents to take home.
“These are good kids who strive to excel in their communities, but Christmas for them may be limited in these times of hardship,” said Hartsfield Elementary Principal Joyce Williams.
As Santa cheerfully bellowed his “Ho, Ho, Ho’s,” NRG volunteers served as Santa’s helpers and brought smiles and laughter to the youngsters.
At the end of the visit, a beaming Williams said, “We at Hartsfield Elementary School would like to express our deepest appreciation to NRG for bringing joy to our less privileged kids. Your act of kindness will be shared throughout this holiday season with their friends and family.”
