The Houston Association of REALTORS® and the Nancy Owens Memorial Foundation joined together to help raise funds for breast cancer research at the first Nancy Owens Memorial Foundation Golf Tournament. On Monday, May 17, a total of 18 teams participated in the event held at the Sweetwater Golf Course that benefitted the foundation.
The day commenced with a putting contest sponsored by Iberia Bank Mortgage. At 11 a.m., a shotgun start began the 18 holes of golf which included contests along the way and team pictures by TK Imaging. An awards ceremony dinner with door prizes and raffle items concluded the day.
The Nancy Owens Memorial Foundation would like to thank its Diamond Sponsor, Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Anderson Properties, and its Silver Sponsors, the Houston Chronicle and Initech Appraisals, for their generous support. Congratulations to the Houston Chronicle team, who were awarded rounds of golf from Sweetwater Country Club for their first place finish. The second place finishers, Heritage Texas Properties, were awarded gift certificates to the golf shop. Each player received a cooler bag from Cornerstone Mortgage that included goodies from various sponsors. Additional sponsors were: Bernstein Realty, Inc., Charter Title, Cornerstone Mortgage Company, HERG Group, Heritage Texas Properties, Katherine Stewart – Greenwood King Properties, Keller Williams Memorial, Martha Turner Properties, and Old Republic Title Company of Houston.
The Nancy Owens Memorial Foundation was founded in 2002 to honor Nancy Owens, a beloved Realtor®, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2001. To date, it has raised and donated more than $800,000 to fund research, education and early detection related to breast cancer. The Nancy Owens Memorial Foundation will donate the 2010 proceeds to the Houston Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center at Baylor College of Medicine.
