Oh … it’s personal, now!

Attention HAR Members:

Last week, Russell Berry, president of the MetroTex Association of REALTORS® issued a public challenge to HAR—and I accepted. [watch the video].

Here’s the deal: Russell believes that Dallas-area REALTORS® can get a higher participation response rate to the latest NAR call for action than HAR can—but I have faith in HAR members!

The thing is, responding is EASY … and if enough HAR members click this link and submit the form, HAR wins and Russell will be wearing a Battle Red Houston Texans jersey for one full day of the Texas REALTORS® Conference. If not, I will have to wear a Dallas Cowboys jersey and embarrass myself and HAR members.  Obviously, I need your help to make Houston proud!

“Watt’s” this about?

This call for action is about the Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act, which passed the U. S. House unanimously earlier this year, but is idling in the U. S. Senate.

The bill has two key components:

  • Increases the number of condominiums that are eligible for FHA loan products, expanding the number of affordable housing options in urban, suburban, and exurban areas
  • Helps rural Texans who rely on 502 Rural Housing Guaranteed Loans by eliminating bureaucracy in the loan-review process.

This legislation is particularly relevant here in Houston, as condominiums and mixed-use developments are popping up all over. The bill gives buyers more financing options for these kinds of properties.
