With the summer almost over, the greater Houston real estate market has remained strong—although it hasn’t always moved in the same direction every month. Our inventory remains low, but that hasn’t dampened sales as much as some people expected. The year isn’t over yet though, so who knows where we will end up. You may read all about the most recent market update here.
We are fortunate to have such a strong commercial division, Commercial Gateway, and the latest quarterly commercial real estate market update was released recently. You may read about it here. There are positive signs in the commercial space, but the pace has slowed along with the overall economic scene in our area.
The BIG e is just around the corner in October. We already have great speakers lined up, such as Nobu Hata, NAR Director of Member Engagement; Phil Schulman to speak about RESPA; and we have returning speakers, Terry Watson and Verl Workman. This is one event you will not want to miss. It WILL sell out, so make sure you buy your tickets early. You may read more about it here.
HAR hosted the seven major declared candidates for mayor at a Mayoral Forum in June. It was a lively discussion that was recorded and posted for streaming on ABC13.com. This was one of the first opportunities to hear from the people who will on the ballot in November; one of whom will likely lead the City of Houston for the next six years. You may read more about the Forum and see some photos from the event here.
Hopefully your business isn’t slowing down yet, even with the summer nearing its end, but it’s never a bad idea to take a few courses to improve your knowledge, which will help your clients. The Social Media Pro, Graduate REALTOR® Institute and Certified International Property Specialists courses are being offered in August and September and are well worth the investment of your time and small course fee. You may read more about these classes here.
Until next month,
Nancy Furst
HAR Chair of the Board
