Beginning with this month’s issue of the Houston REALTOR® magazine, we will use the Microsoft Tag technology to allow you to easily scan the “Tag” in an article and be taken automatically to a website or video.
All you need to do is download the free Tag reader on your web-enabled camera phone and when you see a Tag, snap or scan it to interact with the world around you in new ways!
You may go to http://gettag.mobi, which will automatically recognize what type of phone you have and will allow you to download the appropriate Tag reader for your model.
The Microsoft Tag Reader works on hundreds of Internet and camera-enabled handsets, including the Apple iPhone, Palm Treo, Blackberry, Motorola Razr, as well as many Ericsson, Samsung, Nokia and HTC devices, among others.
We are initially using this service to allow you to snap or scan the image and view the MLS Monthly Report video with HAR Chair Margie Dorrance discussing the latest MLS statistics, “share your story” on the HAR Flame site or register for the Broker Involvement Program. In upcoming issues, we will use even more Tags to help integrate our robust online content with our print publication.
The tag is really a high-capacity color barcode (HCCB) and you might have seen them in Entertainment Weekly, Golf Digest or TV Guide, which just started using them in May.
We look forward to expanding our other uses of this technology throughout the Association as well in the coming months.
Please note: Microsoft Tag uses your phone’s data plan. Normal data charges from your mobile operator will apply.
