The Houston/Gulf Coast CCIM Chapter has recognized four chapter members who recently earned the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation from the CCIM Institute, one of the leading commercial real estate associations in the world, in addition to being honored as a top chapter.
Awarded the designation at the Institute’s recent business meetings in Chicago were:
• Kristen Johnson, CCIM, an assistant vice president with NorthMarq Capital specializing in multi-family finance. In the past 12 months, Johnson has closed nearly $300 million in commercial transactions. A certified public accountant, she holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Washington and Lee University and an MBA from The George Washington University.
• Ray Lopez, CCIM, a Senior Advisor with Cresa Houston specializes in office tenant representation focusing exclusively on advising office tenants on their lease negotiations, renewals, expansions, subleases and relocations. Prior to joining Cresa Houston, Ray acquired extensive knowledge while working with a local Houston company as leasing director responsible for overseeing the leasing of the company’s office portfolio. His experience working on the ownership side has given him the skills to meet his client’s needs.
• Trey Melcher, CCIM, president of Melcher Investments has been involved in real estate since 2002 when he started investing in retail and industrial centers. He currently manages a portfolio of NNN national-credit tenant properties and other retail sites in Texas. He graduated in 2006 with highest honors from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Sports Management. A third generation Houstonian, he also owns and operates The Railyard Neighborhood Bar on San Felipe.
• Dan White, CCIM, MLERE, represents clients in all aspects of commercial real estate, focusing on the north and northwest areas of Houston for Don White & Co. Realtors. Prior to joining his family firm, White worked for a top-producing Houston industrial brokerage firm after serving as a graduate intern. White attended Texas A&M University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 2004 and completing a Master’s degree program in Land Economics and Real Estate from the Lowry Mays College of Business in 2007. He volunteers with the Boy Scouts of America, lives in Northwest Houston near Jersey Village, and enjoys anything that involves friends, family and/or outdoor activities.
The four local members were among 137 commercial real estate professionals who passed the CCIM Comprehensive Examination, the final component in the designation process. The CCIM designation is awarded upon successful completion of an intensive analytical curriculum of 200 classroom hours and presentation of a portfolio of qualifying experience demonstrating concept mastery through real-world success. CCIMs are recognized experts in commercial real estate brokerage, leasing, asset management, valuation and investment analysis.
In addition, the CCIM Houston/Gulf Coast Chapter earned the 2012 President’s Cup award for demonstrating the highest degree of skill, ingenuity, and innovation in promoting the membership benefits of the Institute at the local and regional levels. Under the 2012 leadership of President D’Etta Casto-DeLeon, CCIM, the local chapter won the top award in the category for chapters with more than 250 members.
