Katy Sunshine Fest Raises $31,000 for Sunshine Kids

The Katy office of Prudential Gary Greene, REALTORS® raised $31,000 for The Sunshine Kids Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to children with cancer, at its fourth annual Katy Sunshine Fest in Cinco Ranch.

Held April 22 at Prudential Gary Greene’s Katy office, the event featured live and silent auctions, a fashion show with new styles from La Centerra shops and drawings for several vacations. The office auctioned more than 100 items, including several guitars signed by country-music stars, a Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl ring, movie memorabilia, music albums and jewelry. Tracy Bogiel, manager of Prudential Gary Greene’s Katy office, said all 55 agents participated in the event, which drew an estimated 700 people.

“It’s always a very moving event, especially because we have a local Sunshine Kid participating,” Bogiel said.

Founded in 1982 in Houston, The Sunshine Kids Foundation provides children with cancer the opportunities to enjoy group activities, form lasting friendships and participate in local and national events with other pediatric cancer patients to help curb the emotional and physical toll of fighting the disease.

REALTOR® Bob Miles, who chaired the event, said the Katy office agents know the local festival has far-reaching effects.

“We can see how our efforts help the national charity. When you’re actually visiting the Sunshine Kids House at the Foundation’s headquarters in Houston, you realize how important it is to do our part to help these kids,” Miles said. “At Sunshine Kids events they can be themselves. It is very moving. They really just want to be normal kids.”
