Sixteen years after its launch as an online resource for consumers looking to buy a home, the Houston Association of REALTORS®’ (HAR) award-winning HAR.com website has facilitated one million home sales throughout the Greater Houston area as well as internationally. The major real estate milestone was officially achieved in March.
Those one million home sales accounted for $190 billion in total dollar volume. HAR.com has also served to generate 4.7 million leads for HAR REALTOR® members.
“It is no surprise that HAR.com has been the conduit for one million home sales and has generated nearly 5 million REALTOR® leads to date,” said HAR Chairman Danny Frank of Prudential Anderson Properties. “HAR.com is among the 20 most popular real estate websites in the country. It is recognized and relied upon by consumers throughout the greater Houston market and across the U.S. who use its innovative tools to identify the neighborhoods, schools, amenities and other features that make for their dream home.”
More than 1.6 million unique visitors click their way to HAR.com, accounting for an average of 1.5 billion Web hits every month – tremendous visibility for the more than 50,000 property listings posted there. Those listings, which include rental properties as well as international homes for sale, are updated every 15 minutes to provide the most up-to-date information from HAR’s Multiple Listing Service, or MLS.
HAR.com debuted in 1997 as the brainchild of former HAR Board President George C. Stephens and current HAR President and CEO Bob Hale, who envisioned using the power of the Internet to make the real estate buying and selling process consumer-friendly and transparent. In the 16 years since then, the website has garnered multiple awards from various real estate organizations, including Outstanding Website honors from the National Association of REALTORS®.
