The Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR) Board of Directors recommends to its members Bill King for Mayor of Houston in the Saturday, December 12 Houston run-off elections. HAR Chair of the Board Nancy Furst applauded Mr. King for his business style leadership.
“As a former mayor, Bill King is experienced in balancing a budget and preparing for natural disasters. For years, he has offered solutions to resolve the current pension problems that weigh on the City of Houston’s budget and are a looming disaster if not fixed. We believe it’s time to give him the opportunity to put his ideas and business acumen to work,” said Furst.

Bill King is a lifelong resident of the Houston area, and earned his bachelor’s and law degree from the University of Houston. As a lawyer, and columnist for the Houston Chronicle, King has had a wide and varied career in business. He has also served on the Kemah City Council and was elected to two terms as Mayor of Kemah.
Originally from Vietnam, Nguyen came to the US with his family in 1975. Nguyen earned a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine from Texas Health and Science University in Austin. He then served for almost ten years with the Solid Waste Management Department. Nguyen is the current Council Member for District H who is seek re-election to his second term.
Jason Cisneroz is an HPD Community Service Officer who previously served overseas in the Army. He has worked in the past two District H administrations. Cisneroz has been endorsed by Congressman Gene Green, State Representative Armando Walle, current District H Council Member Ed Gonzalez, and former Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia.
Mike Laster is an attorney specializing in real estate who served as a Senior Assistant City Attorney in the Real Estate Division of the City Attorney’s Office from 1989 to 1995. Laster is a Board Member and former President of the Sharpstown Civic Association. He is seeking re-election for his third term as Council Member of District J.
David Robinson owns his own architectural firm, specializing in building large commercial and institutional buildings. He also teaches a graduate level planning and development course in Houston for Texas Tech University. Robinson served in leadership at the Neartown (Montrose) Association and the Super Neighborhood Alliance. He is currently seeking re-election to his second term as Council Member for At-Large Position 2.
Amanda Edwards is an attorney and native Houstonian with a passion for building communities through public service. Edwards has worked for Congressman Sheila Jackson Lee in Washington and earned a law degree from Harvard Law School. Edwards has many ideas to improve infrastructure and transportation, strengthen the economy, protect public safety, and enhance the quality of life for Houstonians.
Jack Christie is a native Texan, businessman, chiropractic physician and community leader. Christie has served on the Board of Directors for the Spring Branch-Memorial Chamber of Commerce, as well as on the State Board of Education, Spring Branch ISD, and Chairman of Texas State Board of Education. Christie is seeking re-election to his third term as Council Member of At-Large Position 5.
