More than a dozen volunteers from the HAR International Advisory Group showed up with aprons on and shirt sleeves rolled up to prepare and serve dinner to guests staying at the Houston Ronald McDonald House (RMH) on September 26. This is the second year in a row members of the HAR International Advisory Group have participated in this outreach project.
Families from all over the world stay at the Houston RMH while their sick child is receiving treatment in the universally renowned Houston Medical Center. The RMH on Holcombe is a 50-bedroom home with laundry facilities, eight kitchen pods and a shuttle to the participating hospitals. Numerous volunteer groups from the Houston area sign up to prepare and cook a meal, serve it and then clean up the kitchen.
The 2011 – 12 HAR International Advisory Group Chairman, Richard Miranda, CIPS, commented, “We are proud to prepare and serve dinner to the brave children and their families, many from other countries, who stay at the Houston Ronald McDonald House. As REALTORS® who specialize in international transactions, we feel it is our calling to give back to the local community in a global way if possible. This outreach project allows the HAR International Advisory Group to do just that. It’s truly heartwarming to serve the folks staying there.”
