The deadline to submit your form to run for the 2017 HAR Board of Directors is June 6, 2016, so make sure you read all about it here. The board of directors help establish policies that impact all of us, so this is your opportunity to really make a difference. If you aren’t quite ready to run for the board, you may look for the call for volunteers for the various advisory groups later in the year.
We have included articles in the print and online publications, as well as sent out numerous emails, regarding the new MLS Platinum offering at HAR. While this is the result of an NAR-required separation of MLS services, we hope you will see the value that MLS Platinum will bring to your business and continue to use those tools included in the package. If not, you will still receive the great products in MLS Standard for the same low amount you’ve been paying. You may read all about MLS Platinum here. And remember that these tools continue to be free until July 1. You will have to register for MLS Platinum at that point to remain utilizing these great items. We keep adding even more tools to MLS Platinum to make it an even greater benefit as well.
I’d also recommend that you submit a nomination for the HAR YPN 20 Under 40 Rising Stars in Real Estate. The nominations are due by July 20, but don’t wait until the last minute. This is a prestigious honor that has helped drive more business to past recipients. If you are 40 years old or younger—or know a member who is—submit a nomination today! The information may be found here.
With the globalization of our economy and more international listings showing up on HAR.com every day, there has never been a better time to learn more about international real estate. The Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation course will be offered in August, and is sure to be a sellout. Find out more here. There’s also a great article about guidelines for representing foreign buyers here.
If you have heard about new initiatives called AMP or Upstream, you will want to read the column here. If you haven’t heard of them, then it is probably even more important for you to become better informed about the changes that are possibly coming across the country for the real estate industry. As the saying goes, the only thing constant is change.
Until next month,
Mario Arriaga
HAR Chairman of the Board
