When the Consumer Financial Protection Board (CFPB) was formed, it embarked on a project, known as “Know Before You Owe,” to improve the mortgage customer experience by standardizing the information borrowers receive about a mortgage and empowering them to make better decisions. The project resulted in a significant revamping of the documents and new requirements to get them to consumers in advance of key milestones. While several changes dictated by the CFPB went into effect in January, the biggest will be mandated in August 2015. Because of the impact of these changes, all parties involved in the real estate transaction should have a plan and start adopting appropriate tools now to ensure a smooth transition. This program will provide you with an overview of the new regulations and how they will affect the real estate transaction. An afternoon workshop to review the new HUD-1 will follow the luncheon.
*The program is complimentary to all HAR members, but registrations are required. No-shows will be assessed a $25 no show fee. Walk-ins cannot be accommodated.
