NEW NAR Code of Ethics REALTOR®
Member Requirement
The National Association of REALTORS®’ Board of Directors approved a change to the Code of Ethics training requirement, extending it from every two years to every three years. This extends the current cycle deadline from Dec. 31, 2020, to Dec. 31, 2021.
REALTORS® are required to complete ethics training of not less than two hours and 30 minutes of instructional time. The training must meet specific learning objectives and criteria established by the National Association of REALTORS®.
TREC License Requirements HAVE NOT Changed!
Requirements to renew your license have not changed and you should meet the requirements below every two years based on your license expiration date.
- Complete 18 hours of approved Continuing
Education (CE) courses - 8 hours of TREC Legal Update I and II; and
- 10 hours of elective CE
If you have been made a supervisor by your broker for six months or more, you need to take the 6-hour Broker Responsibility course as part of your 18 hours of CE.
Agents in their first two year renewal period should meet the requirements below prior to their license expiration date.
- Complete 90 hours of Sales Apprentice Education (SAE) courses
- Complete 8 hours of TREC Legal Update I and II
