HAR President and CEO Bob Hale was recently featured in two newspaper stories. The Houston Chronicle covered Bob’s appearance as featured speaker at the September 9 meeting of the Houston Mortgage Bankers Association. Bob shared his insights about relevancy to consumers in a world of disruptive innovation. And the Houston Business Journal covered Bob’s October 15 keynote address at HAR’s The BIG e that focused specifically on HAR’s relevancy in the real estate world as disruptive forces like Zillow nip at our association’s heels.
Two former HAR leaders received media coverage for their recent achievements. The Houston Chronicle and Houston Business Journal reported in mid-September on 2014 HAR Chair Chaille Ralph’s appointment as new president of Heritage Texas Properties. A couple of weeks later, both newspapers covered 2009 HAR Chair Vicki Fullerton’s appointment as 2016 chair-elect of the Texas Association of REALTORS®.
HAR dominated the Houston Chronicle real estate section (print and online) on Sunday, October 4, with a large spread announcing the winners of HAR’s sixth annual NextGen REALTOR Group (NRG) 20 Under 40 Rising Stars in Real Estate Awards. The spread featured a large color photo of the winners and blurbs about them.
Separate HAR news releases announcing the Board of Directors vote to support City of Houston Proposition 1, the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO), as well as HAR’S commissioning of a poll for the Houston mayoral race, garnered coverage in the Houston Chronicle, Houston Business Journal as well as numerous political blogs and other media outlets between late September and early October.
Houston Chronicle real estate correspondent Katherine Feser cited HAR’s September MLS data in her October 20 story about a slight decline in Houston-area investment home purchases amid falling oil prices.
